Lonely Sci-fi Roleplaying
The Golden Age of humanity among the starlanes is over ...and you’re all that’s left.
You are all that remains of humanity’s attempt to harness the stars. You awoke a hundred millennia after you fell asleep, and you don’t know why the stars are bathed in blue or where your kind went. But you’re going to find out.
In cyan starlight you are the last human in space. You travel from system to system, attempting to keep your starship functional while exploring planets and stellar locales, looking for clues as to the disappearance of humanity and why the stars now emit a faint blue-green light.
The gameplay loop features a degrading die system powered by Fari RPGs' Breathless, where every roll impacts your ability to press forward to the next stop. You must travel from location to location, attempting to gather insights that will allow you to generate one of 512 possible endings for your story!
But you must balance yourself, for despair is ever present and being the last human is a truly lonely endeavor. Enemies lurk in the dark void of space, echoes of humanity still rebound, and you know not what the next star system holds.

As the title says, this was my first time doing a solo RPG. Such a cool experience, being able to take on the role of both the player and the GM.
This game in particular was a great place for me to start, as the subject-matter itself elicits a very "project hail mary" or "the martian" vibe.
Basically "you're alone. you have limited resources. outlook not so good. But we're still going to do it."
Success in this game really captures the "I just grew a plant on mars" feeling.
This game requires that you feel comfortable with ambiguity and making it up as you go. As I said before, you're the player and the GM. You can decide the right balance of fun and fair for you.
This game invites you to create amazing stories with rules that are descriptive enough to guide you while still keeping you fully in control of whatever story it is that you want to create.
Do yourself a favor and give this game a go. Oh and this book is small enough to fit in any travel bag. Pic attached of me playing this poolside while on vacation in Greece
I picked up this lovely game from the crowdfunding, Solo/Prompt/Journaling driven games are such a comfort food thing and Cyan Starlight beautifully fills this need. There are so many useful tools available on the Website that it makes them game a breeze to play, plus the Creators Discord is very accessible for inquiries.
From the beginning you are so easily engaged by the Prompts that before you know it you've written a compelling Character within the world that you almost forget that you're rolling dice to generate it all.
Because it is just you, the tension you generate, the sense of urgency the game provides, is entirely in your control and that is more refreshing than you might think.
Replay value on this is only limited by your imagination as the locations and enemies are largely under your entire control.
If you have ever been in love with the Space Trucker genre as a whole then Cyan Starlight is a great game for you to take with you on a trip, small form factor all in one spot, website for handling Rolls and outcomes. Highly recommend you take a chance on this wonderful game!
As someone who doesn't love standard D&D I am surprised at how much fun this is I would truly recommend this to anybody looking for new sci-fi experience! The vibe sare just right and that's really what I look for when gaming!
First the pros: great concept, great production quality, good online tools such as playlist and table generator.
Cons: ambiguous and confusing protocol, little support (tried asking questions on various forums and sites), and no examples of play. For me it’s been unplayable. I’ve tried 3 times to start a game and get caught up each time.
For example, you degrade dice after every check, there is a way to reset your character attrivutes, but no listed way to reset your ship attributes. You can get mixed information from tables when scanning your location one table says it’s occupied and another saying unoccupied.
I’ve watched several playtheoughs online, including with the designer, and they seem to get caught up on some of the same issues I have, but they just make up something for the story and move on.
So, if you don’t mind ambiguous (pirates) or even confusing rules and protocols, and can just plow through creating a story, this may not be an issue for you.
